Coalfire Assists Vibrent Health in Achieving FISMA Moderate Baseline Authorization and Accreditation

August 15, 2017

The accreditation shows a demonstrated commitment by the healthcare technology solution provider to strengthen its security posture and expand market reach

Westminster, CO  August 15, 2017  Coalfire, a leading provider of independent, comprehensive cybersecurity advisory services, today announced that it has completed a Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Moderate Baseline Authorization and Accreditation assessment for Vibrent Health, a provider of precision medicine and personalized health solutions. With this assessment, Coalfire confirmed that Vibrent Health has the required management, operational and technical security controls in place to mitigate risk and provide a secure environment for government agency federal systems, bureaus, departments and their supporting entities. As a result of the assessment, Vibrent Health was awarded FISMA Moderate Authorization and Authority to Operate (ATO) by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

FISMA requires each federal agency to develop, document and implement an agency-wide program to provide cutting-edge security for the information systems and data that support its operations, including the systems of government contractors. Upon obtaining a contract award from the NIH to provide the technology platform for the Precision Medicine Initiative research program (launched under President Obama), Vibrent Health contracted Coalfire to provide FISMA advisory and assessment support services.

“We were pleased to be selected by Vibrent Health to help the company meet the FISMA compliance mandate and improve its overall security posture,” said Kennet Westby, chief strategist at Coalfire. “As a leading Third Party Assessment Organization, Coalfire works to achieve efficiencies for all of our customers by offering tailored solutions to meet their security needs, budgets and project timelines. Our successful partnership with Vibrent Health underscores our proven ability to help customers effectively manage risk and maintain compliance with some of the industry’s most complex security standards.”

"Our government and commercial customers are facing significant security challenges and depend on Vibrent Health to protect their health data and the privacy of their users," said Praduman Jain, CEO at Vibrent Health. “By working with Coalfire to achieve FISMA authorization and accreditation, we are reaffirming our commitment to power the next generation of precision medicine with the proper security and privacy protocols to combat cyber threat activity.”
