Sam Sliman - Chairman
Mr. Sliman is the founder of Gulfscape Ventures, an early-stage growth investor in technology, consumer products and real estate ventures. Prior to founding Gulfscape Ventures Mr. Sliman served as President and Board Member for Optimal Solutions where he was responsible for overseeing sales, business development, marketing, legal, corporate development, and human resources globally. Optimal Solutions was acquired by NTT DATA. Mr. Sliman has also previously served as Vice President for Commerce One (NASDAQ:CMRC), AppNet (NASDAQ:APNT, acquired by Commerce One), and Research & Planning, Inc. (acquired by AppNet). He began his career as a Technical Architect with Accenture. Mr. Sliman currently serves on the board of Coalfire and Gulfscape Ventures. He received a BS in Computer Science from the University of Mississippi and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
Larry Jones - Director, CEO
Mr. Jones has more than 25 years of experience building, operating and growing public and private companies in the business process outsourcing, marketing services, enterprise software, smart-grid, information and IT services industries. He has a proven track record as the CEO of six companies and has served as director of 13 private equity, public and VC-backed companies and executive chairman of two others. Prior to his leadership role with Coalfire, from 2007 to 2011, Mr. Jones was CEO of Denver-based StarTek, Inc. (NYSE: SRT), a provider of global outsourced call center and customer support services. He has also served as CEO of Activant Solutions, an enterprise software company; chairman of WebClients, an internet affiliate marketing firm; CEO of Interelate, Inc., a marketing services firm; CEO of MessageMedia (NASD: MESG), an email marketing services company; CEO of Neodata Services, Inc. a direct marketing services firm; and was founding CEO of GovPX, a provider of government securities data. Mr. Jones also was a senior vice president at Automatic Data Processing and held various positions at Wang Laboratories between 1977 and 1987.
Mr. Jones currently also serves as a director of Xyleme Corporation. He is also active member and Fellow in the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Over the past 10 years, Mr. Jones has served as director of numerous public and private companies including Work Options Group, StarTek, Exabyte, Activant Solutions, Realm Solutions, SARCOM, WebClients, DIMAC and Fulcrum Analytics. Mr. Jones graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in computer sciences in 1975 and earned his MBA from Boston University in 1980.
Kennet Westby - Director, President
Mr. Westby is a founding partner of Coalfire and serves as its president, COO and senior security strategist. He brings more than 15 years of IT security and IT controls design and implementation experience to the team. Mr. Westby’s broad industry experience also includes application development, e-business and business process integration. He has served as COO for a global managed application hosting company where he provided both technical and operations leadership. Mr. Westby has also served as the COO and CIO for the world's largest pharmacy e-business network and portal. He was selected as one of the nation's top 100 CIOs by CIO Magazine, is considered an industry leader in e-business and IT risk advisory and has presented as a keynote speaker at some of the largest industry forums.
Stephen W. Bailey - Director
Mr. Bailey is a Managing Director with the Carlyle U.S. Equity Opportunity team. Prior to joining Carlyle in 2005, Mr. Bailey served as Vice President and head of Corporate Development at Dell. Mr. Bailey previously was a Principal with ABS Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and he held positions in 3Com’s Business Development Group and in the investment banking division of Alex. Brown. Mr. Bailey has served on the board of Quorum Business Solutions and RMI, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Coalfire, Authentix, Bonotel, ECi Software Solutions, Observint Technologies, and LDiscovery. Mr. Bailey received an A.B. from Harvard College and his MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Brooke B. Coburn - Director
Mr. Coburn is a Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer of Carlyle’s Energy and Natural Resources platform and Co-Head of Carlyle Growth Partners and Carlyle Equity Opportunity Fund, which represent the U.S. smaller and middle market buyout activities of The Carlyle Group. Mr. Coburn focuses principally on investments in the education, technology, communications, media and business services sectors. Mr. Coburn is on the Board of Directors at ECi Software Solutions, PrimeSport, Coalfire and Catapult Learning. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Coburn was with Salomon Brothers, Inc. where he focused on M&A and capital raising assignments in the Media & Communications Group. Mr. Coburn received his B.A. from Princeton University with honors.
Michael G. Gozycki - Director
Mr. Gozycki is a Managing Director with the Carlyle U.S. Equity Opportunity team. Prior to joining Carlyle in 2007, Mr. Gozycki held a variety of roles with Staples, Inc., focusing on supply chain strategy, acquisition integration and fulfillment operations. Mr. Gozycki has previously served on the Board of Directors of Archive Systems, Primatics Financial, and Schoolnet and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Axletech International, Authentix, Coalfire Systems, and ECi Software Solutions. Mr. Gozycki received an A.B. from the College of the Holy Cross and his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth where he was a Research Fellow in the Glassmeyer/McNamee Center for Digital Strategies.
Douglas Greise - Director, Executive Vice President
Mr. Greise leads the Technology Services Business Unit, where he oversees strategic planning, partnership, outreach, and client delivery. Prior to joining Coalfire, Mr. Greise served as the managing principal and cofounder of Veris Group. Previously, he was a cybersecurity/information assurance manager for Booz Allen Hamilton and a senior manager at Reliacom, where he was heavily involved in the IT integration and consulting firm’s growth.
In addition to having more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT consulting, sales, and management, he holds multiple industry certifications – including the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Product Specialist (MCPS) – and was a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). Mr. Greise earned a bachelor’s degree in government and politics with a focus in international relations and telecommunications from the University of Maryland.
David Leach - Director
David Leach is a Principal and Head of Private Equity at The Chertoff Group. In this position, Mr. Leach leads The Chertoff Group’s Private Equity business, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Coalfire and Delta Risk. Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Mr. Leach was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where he worked from 2001-2014. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Leach worked at Japonica Partners, a boutique private equity firm in Providence, RI. Mr. Leach received his B.A. from Tufts University, with Phi Beta Kappa honors, and his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Jim Pavlik - Director
Mr. Pavlik is a Partner with Baird Capital and focuses on venture capital investments in the technology and business services sectors. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Catalyze, Coalfire, emids, Hireology, InsideTrack, Montage Talent and NowSecure. Prior to joining Baird Capital in 2003, Mr. Pavlik held positions with Madison Dearborn Partners, a private equity firm, and Salomon Smith Barney’s investment banking division. Mr. Pavlik received an A.B. in Economics from Duke University and his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Charles O. Rossotti - Director
Mr. Rossotti is an Operating Executive of The Carlyle Group focusing primarily on investments in the fields of information technology and business services. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Rossotti served from 1997 to 2002 as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. In 1970, Mr. Rossotti co-founded American Management Systems, Inc. and until 1997 served at various times as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. Mr. Rossotti is on the Board of Directors of Carlyle portfolio companies Booz Allen Hamilton, Quorum Management Solutions, Coalfire, Ldiscovery, and AES Corporation. Mr. Rossotti earned his A.B. in economics, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University and his MBA, with high distinction, from Harvard Business School.
David Svec - Director, Executive Vice President
Mr. Svec leads the strategic and tactical execution and growth of Coalfire’s Federal Business Unit. Prior to joining Coalfire, he served as the managing principal and cofounder of Veris Group. Previously, he spent several years as a risk management consultant and subject matter expert with Booz Allen Hamilton. He has served in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and worked in the National Security Division. Prior to joining Booz Allen Hamilton, Mr. Svec held positions at Reliacom, LLC; Accu-Tech Corporation; and the Ridgway Center for International Security and Global Risk Assessments, Inc.
In addition to his risk management and cybersecurity consulting experience, Mr. Svec has more than 20 years of proven sales, marketing, and management experience. He holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Public and International Affairs/International Security (MPIA) from the University of Pittsburgh, and a bachelor’s degree in international studies and political science from Towson University. He is a member of the Coalfire Board of Directors and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Dean's Alumni Advisory Board.
Norm Willox - Director
Mr. Willox is currently the CEO of Bluewater International, LLC. Bluewater offers high-level investment and consulting services exclusively to select companies, primarily in the energy, healthcare, government, law enforcement and homeland security sectors. Previously Mr. Willox served as CEO for LexisNexis Government services, where he was instrumental in utilizing sophisticated super computers and advanced policy driven information delivery systems to protect citizens, industry and government officials. For decades, Mr. Willox has been recognized as a global leader in information risk management, helping shape domestic and international information sharing policy. Mr. Willox currently sits on a number of boards, including Austin Logistics, Infozen and Coalfire. He is a member of the Business Services Advisory Board at Baird Venture Partners, and is the chairman of the Center for Identity at the University of Texas, Dallas. Mr. Willox is a frequent speaker on fraud, identification, authentication and privacy issues.
