How long does it take to get a FedRAMP certification?

There are typically two phases that will determine how long it takes to get a FedRAMP certification. First, there is a prep and build phase, followed by the assessment phase.

When cloud service providers opt to handle the prep and build phase on their own, it likely takes up to 18 months. With Coalfire's unique FedRAMP approach, FastRAMP 360, CSPs can become audit-ready in as little as 60 days.

The assessment phase generally takes three to six months.

That said, CSPs that work with Coalfire can expect to complete the FedRAMP process in as little as 8 months, while CSPs that don't, will not complete the process for up to 24 months.
