Coalfire CEO Tom McAndrew to Participate in FTC Hearing on Data Security

Westminster, CO – Dec. 6, 2018 –Coalfire, a provider of cybersecurity advisory and assessment services, announced today that CEO Tom McAndrew will join a panel on “Data Security Assessments” as part of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC’s) “Hearings on Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century.”

This panel, which is open to the public, is part of the FTC hearing on data security taking place December 11-12, 2018, at the FTC Constitution Center Auditorium, 400 7th St., SW, Washington, DC. McAndrew joins a range of industry experts and security innovators from the private sector as well as FTC executives, who will discuss data security assessments, the U.S. framework related to consumer data security and the FTC’s data security enforcement program.

“These public FTC hearings offer a great forum for exploration of best practices, techniques and advancing technologies in cybersecurity,” said McAndrew. “I’m pleased to participate and bring more light to the importance of regular cybersecurity risk assessment and monitoring, as well as the best methods to assure compliance with applicable regulations.”

McAndrew offers the event insights from Coalfire’s extensive experience with more than 40 industry certifications and affiliations, over 1,000 security assessments completed annually and conclusions drawn from security research conducted by their Labs Research and Development Team.

The data security hearings will include five panel discussions and additional exploration of research related to data breaches and cybersecurity threats.
