In Memory of Our Friend, Rick Dakin

June 22, 2015, Communications Team, Coalfire

We are deeply saddened to announce that our co-founder and CEO Rick Dakin passed away suddenly over the weekend while hiking with family and friends along the trails outside of Colorado Springs.

We are all shocked and our thoughts go out to his family.

Rick’s passion, vision and dedication for creating a lasting company that would redefine cybersecurity have inspired us all.  His professional commitment was only overshadowed by his compassion, friendship and good will.

His greatest love was for his family. Our sympathy goes out to them and to all who were touched by this extraordinary man.

Effective immediately, Larry Jones will become CEO.  Given Larry's strong CEO experience and his very active role as Board Chairman over the past three years, the board has asked him to become CEO and proceed with the strategy and operating plans that are already in place.

We realize Rick inspired and touched many of you.  We will share details of the memorial service as they are made available. For now, we will keep our thoughts and prayers with the Dakin family.

We appreciate your support, honoring the values and vision Rick instilled and continuing our relationship in the years to come. We will all carry his vision forward as if he were standing by our side.

In lieu of flowers, the Dakin family has requested that donations be made to The Harambee Foundation, http://pulltogetherforkenya.org/
