Coalfire in the News

January 17, 2012, Rick Dakin, CEO, Co-founder and Chief Security Strategist

Rick Dakin

It’s been quite a season in the world of IT security as we move into 2012. As experts in our field, we are often asked to comment on current trends and recent stories. Take some time to check out what we have had to say recently:

  • We recommended organizations ensure that security deliverables are integrated into their business as they continue to evolve in the Dec. 5 edition of Dark Reading.
  • As new guidelines for PCI DSS 2.0 cloud reference architecture came into effect, we commented on its importance as HyTrust, Inc.  announced its publication of this new update in Market Watch.
  • TMCNet covered our recent partnership with VMware Technology in early December.
  • As the need for mobile security increases, I got the chance to comment on Pyxis Mobile’s article on how malware can jailbreak your mobile without you even knowing it.
  • John Rostern wrote a blog post for the on how important risk assessment is for business.
  • SmartMoney covered the Top Breaches of 2011 and we commented on the implications of email/password security.
  • Most recently, we had the opportunity to speak with Aliya Sternstein of Next Gov to chat about cloud security and FedRAMP.
  • Tom McAndrew spoke with Dark Reading to discuss the Top 10 PCI Compliance Mistakes.

What are your thoughts on these recent security trends? I would greatly appreciate any feedback, comments or questions.
