John Rostern, Managing Director, Northeast & Southeast Region

Mr. Rostern has more than 29 years of experience in audit, information security and technology. His areas of expertise include IT audit, technology risk assessment and management, IT strategic planning, architecture, information security, operations, applications development, telecommunications, networking, data center design and business continuity planning. Mr. Rostern is a subject matter expert in the areas of data loss prevention, intrusion detection, encryption and incident response. Mr. Rostern received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Finance from Hofstra University and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from the University of Colorado. He serves as the chairperson for the Long Island Forum Technology (LIFT), and is an active member of the Computer Security Institute, the Information Systems Audit & Control Association, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), and the InfraGard-New York Metro chapter.


Dirk Anderson, Managing Director, Mountain & Midwest Region

Mr. Anderson has 15 years of experience in the field of information technology, which has provided him with extensive knowledge in the development of policy and awareness programs for multi-national corporations where he has held the positions of practice lead/senior analyst, chief security architect, senior manager global security architecture, and manager of information security and Internet systems. His broad range of experience, from the management of multi-million dollar budgets to highly technical roles, gives him a unique perspective on the successful integration of business and technology.  Prior to entering the technology arena, Mr. Anderson worked in the physical security fields of retail asset protection, loss prevention and hotel security. Mr. Anderson’s breadth of experience also extends to multi-national retailers, banking, telecommunications, investment, energy, manufacturing, and governmental organizations.


Adam Shnider, Managing Director, Northwest Region

Mr. Shnider has extensive experience in audit planning, enterprise risk management and information security. His experience includes serving clients in compliance efforts for PCI, FFIEC, GLBA, HIPAA and SOX in financial services, retail, healthcare and other industries.  He has also assisted clients in designing and implementing information security programs and architectures for a variety of industries, applications and platforms. Mr. Shnider holds numerous industry certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems, Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and is a Payment Card Industry Qualified Security Assessor (QSA). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University.
 

James Cowing, Managing Director, West Region

Mr. Cowing comes to Coalfire through acquisition of the company he built, DRG. With over ten years of security consulting experience and twenty years of financial services industry experience, Mr. Cowing has helped thousands of government, financial services, ecommerce, enterprise, and health care companies maneuver through the often complex and stringent security compliance requirements of their respective industry. Mr. Cowing is a seasoned payment card industry professional, renowned speaker and trusted security advisor to industry leading financial institutions, merchants, and service providers. He holds a CPA certification in California and Hawaii, an MBA in Finance and a BA from UCLA in Economics. Mr. Cowing served as the co-chair of the Security Committee for the Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) and is currently a member of ISACA, ISSA, Computer Security Institute and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Information Technology Division.
